The QC1 heats your home through an internal computer that has been optimized for mining cryptocurrency. It’s amazing how much heat these mining rigs generate so it is probably a great little heater.

Some features of the QC1 according to the Qarnot website include:

  • The heat of the QC-1 is generated by the 2 graphics cards embedded in the device and mining cryptocurrencies or blockchain transactions: while heating, you create money.
You can watch in real time how crypto markets are trending, on your mobile app and on your QC-1 LEDs.
  • It doesn’t embed any mobile part (no fans, no hard drives). This system, developed by Qarnot, is IP-protected.
  • You can monitor the mining mode of your device, activate a heating booster mode in addition to the mining level when you are cold, on the device and on your app.
    • The price is about 2,900 Euros so it’s not inexpensive, but in line with some rigs optimized for mining. Check it out at Tech Crunch.

]]> Ripple Could Be The Next Bitcoin http://www.drbob.17after.com/2018/03/08/ripple-could-be-the-next-bitcoin/ Thu, 08 Mar 2018 13:00:06 +0000 http://www.drbob.17after.com/?p=842 Some experts believe that Ripple (XRP) could be the next Bitcoin some day. Today, Ripple is priced at $0.91 with Bitcoin at $10,751.90 and Ethereum at $788.19. Bitcoin and Ethereum are the top cryptocurrencies at the moment, but one of the experts believe Ripple might be the spark needed to make cryptocurrency more mainstream.

In the Forbes article “Ripple Could Be The Next Bitcoin” Craig Cole of CryptoMaps states that

“Its faster transaction speeds and lower fees make it easier for financial systems to embrace the virtual currency, which is partly why Ripple’s value has increased dramatically just this year. Ripple is helping financial institutions save money and it is only expected to become even more prevalent in payment flows. The virtual currency is certainly on the rise and has the potential to be the first token to truly disrupt an industry, and if it does, expect Ripple to reach Bitcoin-like levels of ubiquity in the near future.”

Other experts agree. Right now you can’t outright purchase Ripple with fiat currency. To purchase Ripple you must use another cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Ethereum. But if Coinbase adds it to their list of fiat exchangeable cryptocurrencies, the ability to purchase Ripple with dollars or other fiat currency will incrase interest and demand for Ripple.

Not all agree that Ripple will outpace Bitcoin or Ethereum. Even if Ripple moves up in the Bitcoin and Ethereum realm, it won’t likely occur until late 2018 and more likely 2019. So, Ripple investors will have to wait some time before they can duplicate the amazing success of early Bitcoin and Ethereum investors.

Doge To The Rescue! http://www.drbob.17after.com/2018/02/21/doge-to-the-rescue/ Wed, 21 Feb 2018 20:59:33 +0000 http://www.drbob.17after.com/?p=710 Dogecoin has been around since 2013 and is often though of as a joke. Indeed it was created on a whim, it is playing a critical role in helping Ethereum solve a problem.

According to coindesk on February 5, Dogecoin factored into an experiment that successfully showcased one of Ethereum’s more enterprising projects. From coingdesk:

On that date, the much-anticipated technology truebit successfully sent dogecoin to ethereum’s Rinkeby testnet, where it became a distinct asset on that blockchain. A historic first, the transaction marked the completion of a years-long project developers see as a stepping stone toward the interoperability of crypto assets more broadly.
